"Takin' A Dip" contemporary equine painting by Linda Bein

"Takin A Dip"

I am sure that my horses would love to take a dip if they could, that winter coat in 83 degree heat must be uncomfortable. It can't be December, seems like April or May!!   I have several more nozzle bottle equine paintings in progress, hope to finish before the holidays.

"Aurora Borealis" watercolor by Linda Bein at the Bein Gallery

"Aurora Borealis"
watercolor
11"x15"
arches 140 lb cold press paper
$125
I started this painting with an under-painting on another paper, I laid this on the other wet wash and it lifted/printed an under-painting on this paper. It looked like the northern lights,  Aurora Borealis, to me.  But I wanted to hear the comments and left it on the easel in the studio.  One of my students that has lived in Alaska told me it looked just like the northern lights; and so it was named.

"Duchess Tina Turner" watermedia by Linda Bein

"Duchess Tina Turner"
15"x22"
This is a contemporary painting of a sassy little miniature horse that is a pasture mate for my daughter's old barrel horse.  She has a lock of hair like "Tina Turner" so we added to her name Duchess; she also has attitude!!  I used the nozzle bottle with matte medium, this was the first one that I did with it, it is a little heavier than the second painting, which I posted first (below).

This is the next painting in the experimental phase of my summer painting.  Instead of using gesso, I used matte medium out of a nozzle bottle. I used these colors on a landscape and loved the look so I thought I would try it on a horse!

Mountain Reflections watercolor painting by Texas artist Linda Bein

"Mountain Reflections"
transparent watercolor
15"x22"
$395

I painted this several years ago and never blogged it because I never photographed it.  Finally, it is in inventory, and available for viewing.    It is a favorite of many students.  When my younger students have a class that they can pick their subject matter, I find them looking up to these mountains.  Many students and their parents recognize the Grand Tetons in the background.  It is a beautiful place on the earth.

This was done as a demonstration in an adult class. We all used tissue paper and matte medium on arches 140# watercolor paper.  We chose yellows, orange, reds and purple for our under-painting.  And as typical for me, I saw a landscape and finished it with Winsor Purple trees.

Acrylic
$125
To inquire contact Linda at lindaabein@gmail.com

I painted the background on this painting several years ago and just put it in a pile of incomplete paintings.  (my stack has been growing)  I love to start new paintings, that is the fun part, the new beginnings, just going with the flow, but at some point you have to pull it all together. My pile is rather large, it's time to finish some.  This just needed a tree to be complete.

Acrylic painting with Westlake Academy and Linda Bein

I have been working with two third grade classes at Westlake Academy to complete paintings for the Westlake Gallery Night fund raiser.  Several professional artists helped the students create their class paintings. The third grade classes that I worked with chose Canada as their country, and landscapes to represent it.

"Ready for Battle" water media by Texas artist Linda Bein

"Ready for Battle"

"Ready for Battle" has been evolving over the years.  It started as a watercolor abstract, close your eyes and draw three big objects on your paper.  Look at it and add a few lines where needed.  Select your color scheme and paint.  Well, I didn't like what appeared, so I took I wet brush and got rid of all my hard edges. Then I decided to put some gold paint on it.  A sword and shield began to appear.  Now Ready for Battle is almost ready.
